World Press Photo is an independent non-profit that harnesses the power of photojournalism to showcase compelling and urgent stories. Founded in the Netherlands in 1955, World Press Photo has kept stories visible and accessible while empowering audiences worldwide to engage critically with news through annual contests, exhibitions, education, digital platforms, and a global network.
Attending the Μedia Village will be:

Naomi Purswani is a Programs Project Manager at World Press Photo, originally from Gibraltar and with a background in Art History. She works on the annual photo contest and supports the organisation’s global education and outreach programs.
Her role involves connecting photographers to each other and the wider public through the contest and World Press Photo’s educational programs.
She is also passionate about promoting visual literacy to help audiences critically engage with images in an era of misinformation.

Zeynep Özçelik works in its Curatorial Department as Senior Registrar, with 3 years of experience managing records and organizing international traveling exhibitions.
She ensures smooth coordination, accurate documentation, and efficient logistics for projects across global teams. She is also involved in building and digitizing the World Press Photo online archive, a resource that did not exist until now, helping make the organization’s work more accessible and reliable for audiences worldwide.
