Documentary Filmmaker & Journalist
Vania Turner is a Greek-British documentary filmmaker and journalist.
Her work, over the past decade, has focused on gender-based violence, justice, and the ways systems of power shape individual lives. She is interested in long-form storytelling that builds trust over time.
Her debut feature documentary, Tack, has screened at over 25 international film festivals and won multiple awards.
Turner’s background in journalism has taken her across the Middle East, Europe, and sub-Saharan Africa, covering humanitarian crises for outlets including The Guardian, BBC, and international organizations like the UN Refugee Agency.
She holds degrees in English Literature and Political Theory. In 2024, she was selected as an IDFA Academy Fellow.
