Natalia Viana
Co-founder, Executive Director, Agência Pública
Natalia Viana is the co-founder and executive director of Agência Pública, Brazil’s largest nonprofit newsroom. She leads longterm investigations and multimedia projects about human rights violations and the abuse of power. Her work as an author and editor has been awarded several national and international awards. She is the author of 5 books, including “Collateral Damage”,that looks military killings of civilians in Brazil, and “The Leak”, about the 2010 publication of the US embassy cables by WikiLeaks.
She is a member of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), sits on the Board of the Gabo Foundation, and the Center for Media Integrity of the Americas. Viana is an Ashoka Fellow and was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University in 2022. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, the Nation, The Independent, and The Intercept.
