Michael Colborne

Journalist, Researcher, Bellingcat

Michael Colborne heads up Bellingcat Monitoring at award-winning investigative journalism website Bellingcat. Originally from western Canada, Michael has researched and written about the far right across central and eastern Europe, western Europe, the United States, Canada and beyond. Michael is the author of From the Fires of War: Ukraine’s Azov Movement and the Global Far Right (ibidem/Columbia University Press, 2022).

In addition to his own work for Bellingcat, Michael has written for media outlets like The Guardian (UK), The New Republic (USA), Haaretz (Israel), Foreign Policy (USA) and others; he has also been quoted in, among other publications, the New York Times, The Times (UK), The Economist, Libération (France), Der Spiegel, Die Zeit and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (Germany). He also delivers training sessions on digital investigative research to journalists, civil society leaders, scholars and researchers. Michael currently lives in the Netherlands.
