Maribel Königer

Director Journalism and Media, ERSTE Foundation

Maribel Königer is responsible for programmes that support quality journalism and public interest media in CEE.

Since 2023, she represents ERSTE Foundation on the supervisory board of Pluralis. 2024, ERSTE Foundation became a shareholder and co-initiator of the Media Forward Fund. She is a member of the Steering Committee of the Journalism Funders Forum.

She started her career as an art critic and journalist in Munich and Paris and worked as a spokesperson for international cultural events. In 2007, she joined ERSTE Foundation as Head of Communications.

Since 2017, she has been in charge of its journalism and media programme.
