Marc Marginedas Izquierdo
Journalist
He graduated in Journalism at the University of Navarra and got a postgraduate diploma in International Relations at the University of Amsterdam. He started working as a junior journalist in El Periodico in 1992. In 1995 he was sent to the north of Africa to work there as their correspondent. In 1998, he started working as their correspondent in Moscow. In 2002 he went back to Spain and became his newspaper special correspondent for wars until 2013. He travelled to Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Sudan, and covered extensively the so called Arab springs in Tunisia and Libya. In 2013, during a trip to Syria, he was kidnapped by the Islamic State. After being released, in 2014, he became again his newspaper’s correspondent in Russia.
