Jose Miguel Calatayud

Jose Miguel Calatayud is a freelance journalist and writer based in Berlin since early 2020, focusing on feature writing and investigative journalism, mainly about Europe. During 2024, he has been working mostly on a series of articles on corporate influence in Europe and — thanks to a European Journalism Fellowship by the Free University Berlin — on developing an investigative methodology and toolset that he calls “Follow the Governance”. For the last months, he has also been researching creative and alternative ways to disseminate the results of journalistic investigations.

He also gives talks and organise and runs workshops and masterclasses — in English, Spanish and French — on collaborative and investigative journalism. From 2019 to 2022, he worked with Arena for Journalism in Europe, which promotes cross-border investigative journalism and organises the Dataharvest conference.
