Christian Basl is an editor and data journalist at Germany’s WDR, where he focuses on strategic innovation, data-driven storytelling, and opinion polling. Beyond that, he explores the artistic potential of sound as a medium for data — through projects like SoniFriday and his own tool, the DataSonifyer.
His presentations include videos, installations, and live-coded music performances. His work has been recognized with awards such as the Otto Brenner Prize and the Data Sonification Award.
Christian studied Political Theory in Frankfurt (Main), which shaped his interest in political and societal transformation — and in how these dynamics are reflected through media and art.
