Moscow bureau chief, The New York Times

Anton Troianovski is the Moscow bureau chief for The New York Times. He arrived in Moscow in 2018 for The Washington Post and joined the Times the following year. He has reported on politics, war, culture and the environment across the post-Soviet space. His article on Russia’s thawing permafrost was part of the Post series that won the 2020 Pulitzer for Explanatory Reporting. He previously spent nine years at The Wall Street Journal in New York and Berlin. He was born in Moscow and grew up in Germany and St. Louis, USA. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University.
