ORGANISATIONS 2024
World Press Photo Foundation
The World Press Photo Foundation began in 1955 when a group of Dutch photographers organized an international contest (“World Press Photo”) to expose their work to a global audience. For six decades, it has been working from its home in Amsterdam as an independent, nonprofit organization. Its purpose is to connect the world to the stories that matter.
Attending the Μedia Village will be:
- Saba Askary, Manager of Programs at World Press Photo Foundation
Saba is a Manager of Programs at World Press Photo Foundation, primarily responsible for facilitating the world’s most trusted photojournalism contest. She works closely with an international jury of photojournalists, photo editors, curators and academics to determine some of the most impactful photojournalism and documentary photography each year. She otherwise spends her time as a writer, editor and artist working on personal and commissioned projects.
- Alba Noguera, Project Manager Fundraising, at the World Press Photo Foundation
Alba is the Project Manager Fundraising at the World Press Photo Foundation since June 2023. With an academic background in philosophy and gender studies, they are responsible for grant writing, coordinating a variety of fundraising projects, and cultivating strong partnerships and relationships with donors at World Press Photo. Alba is passionate about leveraging the power of photography to raise awareness about critical global issues, and is dedicated to building partnerships that strengthen press freedom and celebrate underrepresented voices in the field of photojournalism.
