Meet the impact editors

This session will bring together four newsroom leaders with roles dedicated to impact for a practical session exploring the day to day role of an impact editor, and how to build impact into the editorial workflow from start to finish. Growing numbers of newsrooms around the world are creating leadership roles dedicated to impact as creating value for audiences and society at large becomes essential for sustainability.

At this session, you can learn from Miriam Wells, who became the world’s first impact editor at the Bureau of Investigative Journalism in 2019 and now holds the same role at The Examination; Tessa Pang, impact editor at Lighthouse Reports; Daisy Okoti, impact & research editor at the Nation Media Group; and Janine Bressmer, impact editor at the New Humanitarian.

Together they have deep experience in leading a process of culture change, strategically designing journalism for impact, the line between impact and activism and practical steps to embed impact into editorial processes. They will share their knowledge and tips and work with attendees to work through questions specific to their particular newsrooms.
