In the last year the SCMP Video Team has had to reassess its workflow, as like in many newsrooms, resources got thinner. This required a rethink about what we do and a pivot away from trying to do everything, to doing less but with better quality. The result was a focus on video explainers and our series SCMP Explains. The results have been overwhelmingly successful, as the team has produced evergreen video content that can continusouly be embedded into text stories on site. Using agency material, original filming and original expert interviews, they created a niche in the digital video space that has resonated with their audience and most recently won them an Asian Digital Media ward for best use of video.
In this case study presentation, they will show one of their explainers and talk about the importance of in-depth video in the digital space and how it has a place in a market saturated by 1 minute social TikTok style videos.
