In an era where misinformation, propaganda, and fake news are rampant, and public trust in media and journalism is at an all-time low, finding effective solutions to restore credibility is crucial. The Journalism Trust Initiative (JTI), developed by Reporters Without Borders in 2018, offers a comprehensive approach to promoting reliable journalism and curbing disinformation.

This presentation provides an invaluable opportunity to explore the mechanisms and impacts of the JTI tool as it will offer a detailed understanding of the origins of JTI, its alignment with the European Union's Code of Practice on Disinformation, and how it functions as a market mechanism based on the international standard CW 17493, following ISO principles. Already more than 1500 media outlets in 85 countries are currently using the Journalism Trust Initiative standard to enhance recognition of the quality of their work worldwide. Media involved are favoured at various levels, particularly on algorithmic aspects, with Microsoft's inclusion of JTI dataset to promote trustworthy news content in products such as Bing, LinkedIn and Microsoft Ads. If you want to be part of the movement towards a more transparent, accountable, and ethical media environment, join us to discover how participating in or supporting JTI can contribute to a more reliable and ethical information space.
