Agenda
"How to make a narrative podcast: Seven tips for journalists" is a listen-and-learn interactive workshop, where attendees are taken into the production of a single episode to reveal what needs to be learned (and un-learned) by journalists to make a compelling audio story. Radio Workshop's team will use the episode Bookish (reported in Nigeria) to discuss the following seven areas:
- Finding a good story (for audio).
- Identifying a larger question.
- Imagining the story (and planning the reporting).
- Capturing quality audio.
- Writing for the ear.
- Sound design and use of music.
- Reaching your audience.
The workshop provides useful guidance for a newcomer to podcasting, while also building on the skills of seasoned audio journalists. The team will share easy-to-execute tips that journalists working across all platforms and in diverse geographic contexts can incorporate into their reporting, and offer access to a range of production guides, handbooks, and other resources.
*To attend this workshop participants are required to bring their own laptop.
