In 2021 the iMEdD's annual Journalism Forum was held entirely online due to the pandemic. Under the title "Reflect. Reform. Restart.", over the course of 3 days we took a look back at how this year has affected journalism, learned about tools and techniques that assist in the transformation of the industry, and discussed the next day of journalism.
11 different sessions attended by registered users, the avant-premiere, open to the public, of the documentary "Parontes", directed by filmmaker Giorgos Avgeropoulos, which is the inaugural documentary production by iMEdD, in collaboration with Small Planet Productions, and the discussion on journalism in times of the Covid-19 crisis, with the online event "DIALOGUES Parontes (Present): Is the news on lockdown?", took "place" on the dedicated website, on the 17, 18 and 19 of February.
The first day, entitled Reflect, was dedicated to reflecting on what we are experiencing due to the pandemic, taking stock of how this year has affected journalism and society, and what the pandemic has meant for the possibilities of recording and transmitting news to citizens, while underlining the need for us all to remain present.
During the 2nd day of the Forum, entitled "Reform", new tools and techniques for the future of journalism were brought to the forefront.
On the third and last day of the Forum, entitled "Restart", the restart of journalism was discussed and modern tools and techniques were presented by renowned Greek and international academics and professionals.
The sessions were moderated by journalists and project managers of iMEdD, Kelly Kiki, Nikolas Aronis, Kelly Kiki, Dimitris Bounias, Panagiotis Menegos and Thanasis Trombukis.
